Summary: The Panza collection, considered the most important nucleus of Americam contemporary art of the post-war period present in Europe, was founded thanks to the intuition and vision of Giuseppe Panza di Biumo who, from the 1950s applied his talent to acquiring works by some of the leading artists of the century. Among these were Franz Kline, Donald Judd, Mark Rothko, Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg. In the line with the new currents emerging in contemporary art, this prestigious collection expanded during the 1960s and 1970s, with a nucleus of Conceptual Art including, amongst others, works by Robert Barry, Hanne Darboven, Jan Dibbets, Hamish Fulton, Robert Irwin, Joseph Kosuth, Sol LeWitt, David Tremlett, Franco Vimercati, Peter Wegner, Lawrence Weiner and Ian Wilson.
