Summary: (from the Foreword) - The architecture of the Camaldolese Order is a phenomenon of creation within Baroque architecture in Poland. In the territory of seventeenth-century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, six Camaldolese hermitages were built, and as many as four of these complesex are considered among the highest achievements in the history of Polish architecture. They are oustanding artistic masterpieces - Bielany near Cracow, Rytwiany, Bielany near Warsaw, and Pazaislis near Kaunas in Lithuania. This publication is devoted to the artistic and historical values together with broadly understood heritage conservation problems - both of the hermitage near Warsaw, and other Polish Camaldolese complexes….
